Roland has released new products, including soundcards and a compact mixer for smartphones.
The Rubix line of USB audio interfaces comes in three varieties of input and outputs, namely four in/four out, two in/two out and two in/four out. Each includes low noise mic preamps with XLR combo jacks, an onboard hardware compressor/limiter, Hi-Z inputs, MIDI in and out ports, low latency drivers and an "extensively shielded, low noise design." Recording resolution is up to 24-bit/192kHz. There are currently no details on price or release date but the Rubix interfaces appear on the Roland website.
The Go:Mixer is targeted at users requiring a high mobility recording solution for smartphones. Once connected to an iOS or Android device, the Go:Mixer requires no further power, making it ideal for tasks such as recording audio while shooting film. Measuring 3.75×3.75×1.1 inches, it features inputs for mics, media players and instruments, and a stereo output. According to Tech Crunch, it will retail for $99. Like the Rubix line, it is viewable on Roland's website but no release date is available.
