  • Teenage Engineering has a new product on the way. The Swedish manufacturer, perhaps best known for its OP-1 hybrid synth and sampler, is adding the PO-32 Tonic drum and percussion synth to the pint-sized Pocket Operator line. It was designed in collaboration with Magnus Lidström of Sonic Charge. According to Ask.Audio, the PO-32 Tonic is the first Pocket Operator to contain an in-built microphone for importing and exporting sounds and pattern data. Users of Sonic Charge's Microtonic will also be able to wirelessly transfer patches and patterns from their computer to the PO-32 Tonic. 16 editable sounds and effects are included in the device, which can be programmed with a 16-step sequencer and parameter locks. Patterns can also be chained, with a maximum length of 64 patterns. More details of the device will be revealed at the NAMM music tech conference in Anaheim later this week. Watch a demo of the PO-32 Tonic's sound transfer function.
Teenage Engineering will release the PO-32 Tonic in April 2017 for $89.
