- The London label's hand-numbered, five-disc compilation lands in early spring.
London label Claremont 56 is celebrating ten years in business with a five-disc vinyl box set.
The brainchild of Paul 'Mudd' Murphy, Claremont 56 launched in 2007 and has built up a catalog of close to 60 total releases, with a lush, airy aesthetic that's covered downtempo, disco, deep house, krautrock and ambient sounds. (It got the nod as an RA label of the month back in 2010.) Claremont 56: 10 Years features 17 unreleased tracks and remixes. Along with Murphy, several legends and influential figures are on hand. Contributors include Ron Trent, Larry Heard, Bjørn Torske, Daniele Baldelli (who's credited on a remix alongside Marco Dionigi) and Can member Holger Czukay, who's released a raft of solo records through the label.
The box set—meticulously presented, as usual for Claremont 56—will be available in three different hand-numbered packages, including editions with a bonus 12-inch (sides K and L), which packs three more unheard reworks and a new cut from Murphy's group Paqua.
