An exhibition at London's Barbican called Into The Unknown: A Journey through Science Fiction will run from June 3rd through September 1st.
The exhibition will explore science fiction as an interdisciplinary genre, encompassing art, music, film and literature. It includes more than "200 books, original manuscripts and typescripts, contemporary and existing art works, 60 film and TV clips, unseen footage, adverts, concept art, film props, comics, video games and robots," The Wire reports.
There will be a video installation by the Australian duo Soda_Jerk that focuses on Sun Ra's theories of Afrofuturism. It includes footage of Kraftwerk, DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and Public Enemy. Icelandic composers Ben Frost and Daníel Bjarnason will perform their score to Andreis Tarkovsky's film Solaris, with video accompaniment by Brian Eno and Nick Robertson. The program, curated by the historian and writer Patrick Gyger, opens in June.
