  • AEG Presents and Brooklyn Sports And Entertainment have purchased New York's Webster Hall. The Manhattan venue has been in operation for over 100 years, and has been under control of the Ballinger family for the last 27. BIllboard reports the two firms went 50/50 on the transaction, and will retain Bowery Presents as Webster Hall's main booker. They plan to spend around $10 million on renovating the venue and bringing it up to "contemporary standards." The purchase is part of an ongoing push into New York by AEG—which also owns Coachella—that started with the Panorama Festival and continued with the purchase of Bowery Presents, which owns venues like The Music Hall Of Williamsburg and Terminal 5, along with Brooklyn Steel, which opens this week with an LCD Soundsystem residency.
