- The Panorama Bar resident's set is made entirely of exclusive material, including tracks she produced with Shed and Martyn.
Steffi is in charge of the 94th fabric mix, which will see release in June.
The Dutch-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer and label boss gathered 15 exclusive cuts made specially for this set. Voiski, Answer Code Request, Unbalance, Dexter and Virginia are among the contributors, and Steffi herself pitches in by way of a couple collaborations. One comes from her Doms & Deykers partnership with Martyn, and the other she produced alongside Shed—the pair, working together on a track for the first time, is credited as STFSHD.
Steffi says she looked to the sound of Warp's classic Artificial Intelligence CDs as "a starting point in terms of atmosphere." She explains how the process of collecting new material from her "inner circle" and some of her favorite producers affected her approach: "My initial thought was to step away from beat mixing completely and let the atmosphere set the tone, but when the tracks started rolling in, it naturally shaped up as a fully mixed CD."
We're told some of fabric 94's music will feature on Steffi's new label venture, Dolly Deluxe, that's also launching in June. On top of that, she'll put out her third solo LP this fall.
