- It's the Glasgow-based artist's first LP.
Optimo Music is releasing the first album from Glasgow artist Iona Fortune.
The LP is called Tao Of I and it's due out May 26th. It's Iona Fortune's first solo release of any kind—album or otherwise—though she did contribute one song, titled "White Tigress," to the recent Miracle Steps: Music From The Fourth World 1983-2017 compilation on Optimo Music. That compilation, which was overseen by 12th Isle's Fergus Clark and Optimo's JD Twitch, took its cues from Jon Hassell's Fourth World musical vision.
Optimo Music say Iona Fortune's sound "very loosely fits in with the Fourth World concept." The label says she takes inspiration from Eastern philosophy, adding that Tao Of I is the first in an eight-album series "exploring all the symbols of the I Ching," with a instrumental palette that includes guzheng, gamelan and the EMS Synthi AKS.
