A new album from Shinichi Atobe, From The Heart, It's A Start, A Work Of Art, has just landed on Demdike Stare's DDS label.
The double-vinyl pack's roots are in three Atobe tracks that were cut onto just five acetate copies at Dubplates & Mastering in 2000, the year before the Japanese artist's classic debut record, Ship-Scope, came out through Chain Reaction. Never given a proper release until now, those tracks, titled "First Plate 1-3," have been remastered from original tapes and acetates (whose age gives some added grit and hiss), and paired with four other unheard productions from Atobe. The whole set comes on separate limited editions of black and aqua-colored wax, with digital formats to be made available tomorrow.
From The Heart, It's A Start, A Work Of Art firms up an already strong connection between Atobe and DDS. The past few years have seen the label reissue Ship-Scope, while also gathering material from Atobe for two well-received LPs, 2014's Butterfly Effect and 2016's World.
