  • Berlin Atonal has announced the first names for its 2017 edition. Now entering its fifth instalment, the five-day festival will return to Berlin's Kraftwerk complex between August 16th and 20th. The festival's announcement includes premieres and collaborations that include club music and experimental electronics. Powell and Wolfgang Tillmans will be debuting a collaborative audiovisual show, while Bristol sound artist Paul Jebanasam is teaming up with Roly Porter as ALTAR for a performance of "ritual system music." Berlin-based Chinese performance artist Pan Daijing, Puce Mary and Roll The Dice will all present new work and live-coder Renick Bell is playing live with Fis. Abul Mogard will perform his first live show, while PYUR is appearing as Oratorio For The Underworld. Japan's Lemna will also play a live set. The opening concert will present the OKTOPHONIE extract of Karlheinz Stockhausen's LICHT opera cycle, which utilises an octophonic speaker array. Read our review of last year's Berlin Atonal.
