  • Optimo Music is giving Coil's "A Cold Cell In Bangkok" its first-ever vinyl release later this year. "A Cold Cell In Bangkok" is the late Coil member Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson's remix of "A Cold Cell," a track from the influential experimental group's 2005 album The Ape Of Naples. In 2008, JD Twitch, AKA Keith McIvor, reached out to Christopherson in hopes of putting "A Cold Cell" on the Optimo Sleepwalk mix. Instead, Christopherson offered to do an exclusive remix. Christopherson died in 2010, six years after the death of his partner, and Coil's other core member, Jhonn Balance. McIvor says, "I felt I was unable to release ["A Cold Cell In Bangkok"] without their blessing, but after long consideration have decided to make it available." The track will come out in September on single-sided 12-inch vinyl, backed with a silk-screened image designed by Firecracker Recordings boss Lindsay Todd. All proceeds from record sales will be donated to the charity Safe Child Thailand, with McIvor explaining, "In the last years of his life, Peter Christopherson had made Thailand his home and fallen in love with the country and its people, so I feel he would have approved of this use of funds generated by his music." Listen to "A Cold Cell In Bangkok."
