  • Electronic pioneers and cycling obsessives Kraftwerk have designed a frame for Canyon, a special version of which will be used in the Tour De France. On Saturday, Tony Martin, a world time-trial champion, will ride a special Ralf Hütter-designed frame in an opening stage race around Düsseldorf, the German city where Kraftwerk was formed. Martin's Katusha-Alpecin team is outfitted by German bike manufacturer Canyon, who will also release a Kraftwerk version of their Ultimate CF SLX frame on July 3rd, limited to 21 and going for £8,999. The group, led by Hütter, has long been interested in cycling and the Tour De France. Hütter and Kraftwerk co-founder Florian Schneider would ride up to 200 KM a day in the late '70s and early '80s, and they've paid tribute to the world's most famous bike race on a couple occasions, namely a 1983 single and 2003's Tour De France Soundtracks LP. Following Saturday's race, Kraftwerk will perform the Tour De France Soundtracks in its entirety at a sold-out concert in Düsseldorf. Listen to Kraftwerk's "Tour De France."
