  • Legendary electronic duo The KLF are putting on a three-day event in Liverpool next month called Welcome To The Dark Ages. Hosted by the Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu—an old alias of The KLF, AKA Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty—it'll run from Wednesday, August 23rd through the 25th. Each day has its own title: Why Did The K Foundation Burn A Million Quid?, 2023: What The Fuuk Is Going On? and The Rites of MuMufication. (This August 23rd marks 23 years since Drummond and Cauty famously burned a million pounds in cash on the Scottish island of Jura—the number 23, considered by some to be a superstitious number, is a significant one in The KLF lore.) According to Liverpool music magazine Bido Lito!'s website, no entity related to The KLF will perform music at the event. But the 23rd will be the publishing date for the duo's novel 2023, revealed earlier this year. Only 400 tickets are to be made available, with sales beginning this Sunday, and all attendees will be considered "volunteers" due to perform "duties directed by agents of the Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu." The KLF, who retired in 1992, have been hinting at some sort of return since January. 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Drummond and Cauty's launch of the project.
