Josh Cheon's label has also revealed a double-LP retrospective of German group Hypnobeat.
Originally released on Nettwerk in 1986, Come Visit The Big Bigot was Severed Heads' first record to come out in Australia, North America and Europe at the same time. It came on the heels of the band's tour with Skinny Puppy and was recorded in bandleader Tom Ellard's bedroom on a Fostex 16-track, with drum sounds made on an AKAI S612 sampler and a Roland SH-101. Ellard says, "On Bigot we finally achieved the sound of a watermelon thrown out of a top story window and smashing, recorded from the inside."
Dark Entries and Serendip Lab will also release a double-LP retrospective of German electronic trio Hypnobeat, Prototech. The project was started by James Dean Brown and Pietro Insipido, with Victor Sol and Tobias Freund eventually pitching in. Hypnobeat released two cassettes in the mid-'80s, Huggables and Specials/Spatials, each made with classic Roland gear. Brown would go on to start the Perlon-affiliated project Narcotic Syntax.
Dark Entries says, "[Hypnobeat] weren't the only ones prefiguring the next big revolutions in electronic music in the mid-'80s, but there certainly weren't many artists stumbling across modes of expression that sound so relevant today."
