Dedekind Cut—formerly known as Lee Bannon—is releasing an album on Kranky.
Tahoe, named for the California town where Fred Warmsley now resides, is his second album as Dedekind Cut. Kranky says this new record "swells with widescreen grandeur, evoking vistas both inner and outer," encompassing both the harsher, angrier vibe of his early productions along with the more subdued nature of recent Dedekind Cut work.
The album was recorded across New York, Berlin, Cambridge and California. Warmsley himself calls Tahoe a "time peace" dealing with the "the past, the present, future and fantasy."
The California producer's Dedekind Cut project started in 2015 with a breakcore bent, before settling into a deeper ambient sound with last year's $uccessor album, released via NON. Previously, Warmsley produced as Lee Bannon, making rap beats as well as jungle and ambient for Ninja Tune.
