  • Blackest Ever Black is putting out a new 12-inch from Regis called The Master Side. The Master Side is Karl O'Connor's first new solo record as Regis in three years. Made up of two EBM-heavy techno cuts, it's being put out on vinyl only, and it's available now at the East London record shop Low Company, before Blackest Ever Black—whose connection with the Downwards boss has already yielded a handful of records and mixtapes—gives it a full release next Friday. The label's announcement for the 12-inch includes the quote, "The most important jazz album of 1964-65"—which happens to be the title of an LP from Chet Baker, a jazz trumpeter whose career was upended by drug addiction. Though it's been a while since O'Connor's last full Regis release, he's certainly kept busy. His 2017 exploits include putting out a re-tooled version of his 1996 debut album Gymnastics and a set of 20-year old recordings on Cititrax, as well as remixing the likes of Svreca and Talker. Listen to samples at Low Company.
