  • A new station on the Helsinki metro features art from Sähkö Recordings cofounder Tommi Grönlund and Petteri Nisunen. Keilaniemi metro station features an installation called "Light Weave" composed of 280 LED tube lights hung above the train platform. Three sets of lights are displayed at different angles and connected by steel wire, while the ceiling is painted black, making the piece "seem to levitate in a dark void," according to the official description of the work on Grönlund & Nisunen's website. In addition to his work in contemporary art, Grönlund is famous for running Sähkö Recordings, the label he cofounded with Mika Vainio back in 1993. It has since become a key platform for experimental electronic music from Finland and beyond. Keilaniemi metro station is part of a new extension of the Helsinki metro, stretching west into the suburb of Espoo. The Länsimetro opened over the weekend.
