- The Belgian artist, also known as half of Lumisokea and Stray Dogs, will release the LP on his new In Aulis label in February.
Koenraad Ecker will launch his new label, In Aulis, with a new solo album called A Biology Of Shadows.
Ecker is a Belgian cellist, composer and producer who makes experimental electro-acoustic music both as a solo artist and in the duos Lumisokea and Stray Dogs. Having collected solo and collaborative credits on labels like Line, Opal Tapes, Kvitnu and Digitalis—and earned a nomination for the 2017 Prix Ars Electronica awards with a 4DSOUND composition—he's now preparing to launch his own outlet with his third studio LP.
We're told A Biology Of Shadows "fuses close-up foley, the human voice, spectral re-synthesis, acoustic instrumentation and an acute sensibility of space" as it explores "the possibility of transformation." The album is split into two parts—Endoscopy and Undergrowth—and features a handful of guest musicians, including drummer Luca Marini and vocalists Audrey Chen and Alex "Bogues" Rendall (of recent Blackest Ever Black signee Jabu). Its artwork, courtesy of Alison Darby, incorporates some of Ecker's own poetry.
A Biology Of Shadows will be available on gatefold vinyl and digital formats.
