  • Strymon is releasing its first Eurorack module, Magneto. The Magneto is a response to Strymon's popularity in the modular community, where its pedals are often placed at the end of the signal chain to widen and sweeten a modular's tone. The module is billed as a "Four Head dTape Echo and Looper" centring on four virtual tape heads. There's tape saturation for heating up the signal, a spring reverb, looper and clock divider. A SHIFT mode turns each tape head into a pitch-shifter for generating layered, rhythmic chords. Short delay times mixed with high feedback levels turn the module into an oscillator, which can then be pitched into a choice of 15 quantised scales. You can also sample short phrases and control their playback using CV signals, reverse the signal and scrub through audio. There's currently no word on price but the release date is coming "soon." Strymon, an American company, is best known for its high-end range of effects pedals, such as the TimeLine and BigSky. Learn more about the Magneto in this promo video.
