  • Music From Memory will release its third record from Suso Sáiz next month. This time around, the Dutch label looks to the Spanish composer's '80s group Orquesta De Las Nubes. Sáiz formed the band with percussionist Pedro Estevan while studying contemporary composition in Madrid. "Sharing a curiosity for American minimalist and non-Western music, the pair began to share music through many listening sessions, during which the idea slowly evolved to try and make music together," the label says. María Villa, Estevan's girlfriend at the time, lent her wordless vocals to the project, which combined Sáiz's "guitar loops, synthesizers and drum computers" with Estevan's "hypnotic percussion." Orquesta De Las Nubes performed live in Madrid and beyond, but had trouble finding a label to release their recordings. Their manager started an imprint for this purpose, Linterna Música, through which they'd release two albums, as well as an additional album and a live CD, between 1983 and 1987. Music From Memory's forthcoming compilation, The Order Of Change, picks out highlights from this period. It follows Music From Memory's 2016 Suso Sáiz compilation, Odisea, as well as an album of new music from the Spanish artist, Rainworks.
