  • Knives, the Planet Mu offshoot run by Kuedo and Joe Shakespeare, has announced details of an album from Los Angeles audiovisual artist bod [???]. Limpid Fear [????], coming out on limited edition cassette tape and on digital formats, is the biggest release to date for bod [???], real name Nicholas Zhu. According to Knives, Zhu crafted two roughly 15 minute-long tracks that combine "instrumentation from their Chinese heritage" with "classical chorus and composition." The results, organized in a sort of mixtape format, are said to touch on "sentimental ambient pop, traditional string ragas, harsh noise and digital textures." Besides music pursuits, Zhu works in graphic design and photography, and has a resume that includes positions at two LA museums. Zhu was also once awarded a grant to study skateboarding culture in Chinese cities. The album is the first move of 2018 for Knives, which has put out bass, grime and experimental music from artists including co-head Kuedo, J. G. Biberkopf and Jlin—her well-regarded 2015 album Dark Energy was co-released with Planet Mu. Listen to an excerpt of Limpid Fear [????].
    Tracklist A Side A B Side B Knives will release Limpid Fear [????] on August 17th, 2018.
