  • µ-Ziq will headline the second edition of Soft Centre in Sydney's West this September. The Planet Mu boss's debut Australian performance is one of a number of firsts for the one-day experimental festival, which returns to the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre on the September 22nd, with Elena Colombi and Taiwan's Meuko! Meuko! also making their way down south. A number of diverse collaborations have also been commissioned: DJ Gemma will soundtrack a dance performance by Justine Youssef and Leila el Rayes with non-Western dance music; metal band Arafura will accompany Sydney pole dancer Onyx; and local hardcore group MANA (Hannah Lockwood, Heli Newton and Serwah Attafuah) will put together an experiential audio-visual piece with Tristan Jalleh. Other musical acts on the day include Fabrics, friendships, mpegafauna (the live debut of Thick Owens and Keanu Hoi), Harold and Toy Death, a band who produce music using modified children's toys. Local audiovisual artist Robin Fox, who has previously appeared at Unsound, will lead the visual, light and design lineup as it transforms the five spaces at the Powerhouse. Watch the lineup announcement video featuring footage from 2017's festival.
