  • Ellen Allien is putting out an EP through Boddika's NonPlus label at the end of August. Take A Stand will be Allien's first solo record away from her Bpitch Control outlet in two decades. (That also makes it her NonPlus debut.) As its name suggests, the EP will offer something of a political statement. "My own history and experiences in the techno scene inspired me to motivate people to stand up for what they think, for their opinions and rights," she said. "A lot of people say that techno isn't political, but why not? It can be political of course." She recorded three tracks for Take A Stand, including the ten-minute title cut, which NonPlus describes as a "call to action and a love letter to the unifying power of rave culture" that also "revives the cheerful optimism of the original techno revolution." Listen to snippets from the EP.
