  • Prince's estate has released his entire catalogue from the mid-'90s through the 2000s to streaming services. The 23 albums are all from the NPG Records catalogue, the label that Prince set up for his music after changing his name and breaking away from Warner. It was a particularly prolific period, due to a newfound ability to release at the rate he wanted (his 1996 album, Emancipation, alone contained 180 minutes of music). Sony released the NPG-era recordings this week, comprising over 20 hours of music, including the new compilation, Prince Anthology: 1995-2010, containing tracks that are impossible to find elsewhere. Discogs' Sean Cannon and Mike Duquette wrote a brief guide to Prince's NPG era for Discogs, which explains some of the finer points of this body of work. Listen to the compilation.
