There has being a public uproar in the UK as it was revealed UK taxpayers will have to pay £75,000 to cover the costs of staging the European MTV Music awards in Scotland. The event which took place in Edinburgh on November 6 was considered a huge success, however this call on tax payers has come as a shock.
A spokeswoman for the event has revealed that although this bill has arrived on the UK publics doorstep the event was worth every penny:”There is no doubt that Edinburgh and Scotland benefited hugely from hosting the MTV awards, - The worldwide publicity for the city and Scotland was immense and should attract visitors, investors and other events to come here.”
She also stressed it was great for locals who were able to be involved in the awards in both a watching and creative capacity.
