  • There have been whispers of a visit by Aril Brikha to Australia for a while. All is now confirmed and Aril will be headlining Blow Your Own Way on Friday 23rd April. You will be able to catch the Swedish producer in action with a 100% live show in the Melbourne venue that best fits these type of live techno performances, Honkytonks. Who is Aril Brihka? If you like your techno less hard and more melodic, it is certain you have danced to his highly moving track "Groove La Chord" more than once on a packed dance floor. Hailing from Sweden, Aril has strong support in Detroit from Derrick May's Transmat Recordings label. Finding that his sound did not suit what Swedish labels were releasing, Aril looked for new labels and sent out demos to three. " I'm not a DJ, so I had no records," he recalls. "I went to my friend's place and I just wrote down a couple of addresses of labels that I know that I like." As it happened, Transmat contacted Brikha and, his "Art Of Vengeance" EP (with Groove La Chord) was issued on its sister label, Fragile, in 1998. A year on, Aril followed up with the LP "Deeparture In Time", a collection of evocative grooves gathered over a six year period and laid down with just one keyboard, a drum machine and an Atari. It drew exultant reviews and has recently been re-issued in Europe with two new tracks. On support duties for Aril will be Phunk De Sonique, Ben Cromack, and Boogs. Entry will be $15 on the door. This party is sure to be excellent.
