Joey Negro’s darker alter ego, Akabu, returns to NRK this Autumn with a radical reworking of the classic ‘Your Wildest Dreams’ cut from 2000. Now titled ‘Don’t Hold Back’, the new recording retains the snaking arpeggio synth line from the original but lays down some more retro house beats and a floating vocal accapella. The release also contains a new ‘Broken Mix’, which the label describes as having “subtle acid line tweaks in and out of the broken beats whilst spooky and atmospheric keys glide over the rhythm track.”
Joey Negro’s Akabu has been a firm fixture in the NRK schedules with previous 12”s like ‘Ride The Storm’ and most recently ‘The Way’ released on the label. ‘Don’t Hold Back’ is out in September, but its worth checking out the NRK site now as there Summer sael is in full effect.
