  • Ben Watt is best-known as half of the duo Everything but the Girl, who first performed together in 1982. It is rare for a band to take as complete a musical turn as Everything But the Girl did in the mid-nineties. They had put together quite a reputation in a decade of recording as a smooth jazz ensemble. One of the major things that changed their direciton was remixer Todd Terry taking a year old jazz-pop single called "Missing" and giving it surprise dance makeover. This made the song a huge international hit followed in due course by another massive hit 'Tracey In My Room'. So after over 20 years in 'Everything But the Girl' Ben Watt returns again to Australia, this time without Tracey Thorn, but bringing his deep house dj sound to our shores for the first time. The tour provides an excellent opportunity to showcase his new underground label, Buzzin' Fly records, said to be 'the most vital deep house label in the UK at the moment'. You can catch Ben in action on 12 February at Home in Sydney. Tickets are $35 and are available online.
