NSW and Victorian MCs, there is now a chance to put forward your claim as Australia’s best MC as the Channel V search for the best MC roadshow hits New South Wales and Victoria this coming weekend. To be eligible for a place in the heat, registrants need to call 1900 956 385 (calls charged at 55cents/min) and leave a rhyme on the phone line. Entries will be judged by a Channel [V] panel that includes Maya Jupiter and local Hip Hop promoter Trent from Slingshot Touring, along with the cream of Australia’s Hip Hop community. Entrants will be judged on style, flow and freestyle ability.
All finalists from the state heats will beat-box, rhyme and rhythm against each for the final MC battle on the 15th April in Sydney.
The final will be broadcast live on air in April and the winner will be flown to Los Angeles to record a single with US beat maker KutMasta Kurt, which will be digitally released in May 2005. The winner will also receive a professional video clip produced by Channel [V].
As well as the MC Search, the Detour shows will boast some of Australia’s and New Zealand’s best Hip Hop acts including Scribe, P Money, Resin Dogs, Koolism and Fastcrew. The full remaining dates are as below with the judges for each gig in brackets.
