  • One of the brightest and most consistent set of 12 inches to emerge in 2004 was Donnacha Costello's acclaimed Color series on his label Minimise. After wrapping up the Color series back in February 2005 with the final release 'Cocoa', today the Irish producer makes a very welcome return to record stores with the official release of "Bear Bounces Back". In contrast to the Color series, which were produced primarily using analog equipment and older hardware, this new release and forthcoming ones have been made with Donnacha's new studio kit - new machines, new software and a full-on ProTools setup and, more importantly, with the fresh contemporary, forward-thinking approach of his past releases. "It is quite apparent that at this moment in time, techno is going through a fresh period of accelerated growth and discovery," says Donnacha. "Some truly fantastic records are being released and with advances in technology, forward thinking DJs now have many new performance possibilities. We have no call to pine for the past when the future looks so bright". The first fruits of Donnacha's new work and machines have already been unveiled on his remix of Shyza Minelli's 'Nasty' on Germany's Sub Static label and early promos of his latest release have already received support from the likes of Troy Pierce, Magda and Steve Bug. "Bear Bounces Back" is out now on Minimise.
