  • Innovative French producer Joakim makes a long overdue return to record stores with ‘I Wish You Were Gone’, released on France's Versatile Records. Major praise came in the direction of Joakim after Ivan Smagghe of Blackstrobe fame used one of his tracks "Budapest" on his Fabric mix compilation. Since then he has remixed the likes of Tiga and Fischerspooner and his remixes have appeared on compilations by Tiefschwarz and Ewan Pearson, Never one to stick to a signature sound or style, Joakim always pushes musical boundaries and genres, making it hard for people to pigeonhole him easily. Creative without a doubt and innovative more than most, his music is constantly evolving and encompasses a vast array of musical styles, ideas and feelings, and has been described as ‘post punk with an electronic edge’. On the original of 'I Wish You Were Gone', Joakim combines all the ingredients necessary for a future club hit, even including an air guitar moment. The track evolves around a rock tinged melody followed by a healthy dose of cosmic hooks and leads enclosed by male vocals, while the Dub Version makes use of cavernous twisted synths. For his latest release on Versatile (also home to Chateau Flight and I:Cube) Joakim has designed and hand-drawn 50 individual record sleeves, which are available at exclusive Parisian store, Colette. Joakim's 'I Wish You Were Gone' is out now in Versatile Records.
