  • Denmark's Out of Orbit Recordings presents two cuts of self-described "Goan-style shiznit" from label head Martinez. Inspired by an outdoor daytime techno party held in sleepy Långholmen in Stockholm last summer, the 'Dark Moon Rising' EP is a 2006 slant on minimal psytrance by the starry-eyed, and in this case tie-dyed, Martinez. On title track 'Dark Moon Rising' Martinez pulls a Marty McFly and transports listeners back to the hallowed days of doof amid scorching rays and swirling incense on the beaches of India or Byron Bay. On the flip 'Meta-beat' recalls the deep trippy sonics heard in the ensuing nocturnal hours. Is this the same label that unearthed the ground-breaking Trentemoeller? Yes. Could this be the beginnings of a European psytrance revival? Not likely. However, it does mark another adventurous release for Out of Orbit, who continue to dodge current electrohouse and minimal trends in this follow up to last month's impressive 'The Cloudpainter' EP from Robert Babicz. Martinez 'Dark Moon Rising' is now available in record stores worldwide.
