  • New series ’Deep, Down & Discofied’ compiles the soul, jazz and funk originals that inspired today’s house. Ever wondered where that great bassline, old-skool riff or catchy vocal were pilfered from? New series ’Deep, Down & Discofied’ compiles the soul, jazz and funk originals that inspired many of today’s house anthems. ATFC's 'Bad Habit' is one of house stable Defected’s biggest releases, but did you know that the track was a remake of 'Bad Habits' by Jenny Burton from 1985? Defected boss and curator Simon Dunmore is giving credit where credit is due on his newest compilation series, which gives props to the original 'Bad Habits' and other obscure and classic soul, jazz, funk and disco templates. 'Deep Down & Discofied' includes Salsoul Orchestra's heavily sampled classic ‘Take Some Time Out For Love', Teddy Pendergrass' 'You Can't Hide From Yourself' (think DJ Sneak's ‘You Can't Hide From Your Bud') and Chaka Khan's 'Fate', the prototype for Stardust's ‘Music Sounds Better With You'. Other big names you might find in Mum and Dad's 7" collection include cuts from Linda Clifford, Gwen Guthrie and the Isley Brothers. Completing the package are new disco-flavoured house cuts from Martin Solveig, Ron Hall & The MuthaFunkaz. Deep Down & Discofied Tracklist CD1 1. Jenny Burton ‘Bad Habits’ 2.
