- One hip-hop crew, one Ninja Tunes rapper and one eclectic house DJ are all on the bill at the next Together party taking place at Turnmills Saturday week. Leading the charge is hip-hop outfit Jurassic 5 who'll play an exclusive DJ set after their show at the Brixton Academy. Expect to see all five members slouching behind the decks in the Live Lounge. Ten deck turntable spectacular or just three records each? We're not sure but head-nodding aplenty is guaranteed. The urban theme continues with rapper Roots Manuva from experimental hip hop label Ninja Tune over in T1. Roots Manuva aka Rodney Smith is often credited as the UK's first original voice in rap. For his gig at Together he'll be laying off the mic, instead spinning a set of dub, ragga, funk and hip hop backed up by MC Ricky Ranking. Manchester acid house veteran Justin Robertson and cosmic house jedi Tom Middleton provide the 4/4 action. Over in T2, underground house DJ/producer Maurice Fulton spins as part of the Tirk Records label showcase. In his recent RA podcast Fulton showed he's a master at connecting the dots between between soul, house, disco and experimental electronics. Fulton will be joined by a DJ set from Bestival headliners The Bees and a live P.A from krautrock-pop band Fujiya Miyagi. This month's Together night is subtitled 'The Sports Casualties Party' with a retro sportswear dress code so dig out the headbands, wristbands, leg warmers, cricket knits and tennis whites. Or, wear baggy jeans, an oversized t-shirt, bandana and baseball cap like everyone else. Upstairs The Sports Club Society will be providing plenty of laughs with retro football shirts, Kevin Keegan haircuts, action replays, random drug testing and urine samples. Together featuring Jurassic 5, Roots Manuva and Maurice Fulton is happening at Turnmills, London on September 30, 2006.
