Essential reissue label Strut has announced the launch of a new series, entitled Inspiration Information, which will bring "together modern artists and producers with their musical heroes."
Kicking things off with the trio of releases will be Detroit's avant soul man Amp Fiddler with legendary production duo Sly & Robbie, vocalist Horace Andy with Ashley Beedle, and The Heliocentrics with vibesman and percussionist Mulatu Astatke. While little information has been released yet as to the results of the first sessions, Strut promises that each album will recorded in five days or less with each collaboration taking "any form that the artists choose, from three-minute song structures to more extended freeform pieces." Both the Amp Fiddler/Sly & Robbie and Horace Andy/Ashley Beedle albums are set to be released later this year.
