- Jimmy Tamborello will re-release his first two albums, as well as presenting a disc of unreleased material.
Dntel will look back fondly at some of his past work this April when he releases the three CD set, Early Works for Me If It Works for You II, through Phthalo.
Jimmy Tamborello made his breakthrough album Life is Full of Possibilities under the Dntel moniker in 2001, leading to a further collaboration with Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard as The Postal Service. But long before that, Tamborello was a bedroom producer, shopping his tracks around to any label that would take them. The first imprint to take a chance on the glitch pop producer was Phthalo and they return to the scene of the crime here by releasing remastered versions of Dntel's first two albums, Early Works for Me If It Works for You and Something Always Goes Wrong.
The third disc in the collection, however, is what hardcore fans will be interested in: It's a collection of previously unreleased material reportedly made just before Tamborello set to work on Life is Full of Possibilities. Says the man himself, "A couple years ago I decided to listen to a bunch of old DATs of stuff I had worked on in the process of making LIFOP. Although a lot of it was rough or unfinished, it got me thinking of the old days and I decided to collect my favorite….DAT discoveries."
