  • Danny Howells will bring his Dig Deeper party back to Ministry Of Sound on Saturday night. As usual, Howells will be taking over the main room for the entire night with his genre-spanning selections, and he's roped in Will Saul's Simple label to look after the Bar area. Saul himself will headline, and he's got current collaborator Mike Monday and Frankfurt-based deep house duo Motorcitysoul to help muck in with the DJing task at hand. Advance tickets are still available directly through RA Tickets. We caught up with Danny by e-mail to ask about the club, the line-up for the Bar, and that all important issue: going to the toilet during his marathon sets.
This is your second Dig Deeper party at MOS, and you also played there on New Year's Eve. What is it that keeps bringing you back to the club? I think it's actually my third or fourth Dig Deeper—although my memory is a bit glitchy these days. I keep going back because I have honestly not had a bad gig there since returning after a seven year gap. The box, as we all know, is phenomenal both in layout and monitoring. And crowd-wise, it's really been spot on whenever I've been there. The last Dig Deeper I did there was one of my best London gigs in years. Will Saul and his Simple crew will be playing in the Bar area. Did you select them personally for the night? Along with the guys from Ministry, yes. We bounce ideas around before each gig. They know what I'm looking for with the bar—something that will complement the box, and with a focus on quality. This is a great line-up so fingers crossed it should be an amazing night! You're playing for a mammoth 8 hours. Have you got any records up your sleeve for your toilet breaks? I've been in the studio non-stop during my 2 months off, and I always run myself off a special extended "toilet" mix of every track I do! Anyway I'm quite lucky at Ministry as it only takes a minute to get to the bog. If someone's in there I just use an ice bucket.
