  • A piece of techno history has been lost to the ages.
  • Former Submerge store demolished image
  • In an e-mail that was sent out yesterday, Detroit stalwart Submerge announced that its former home at 2030 Grand River was demolished by the city of Detroit. The famed "appointment-only" shop at 2030 Grand River was vacated back in the early part of the '00s, and was replaced by a new home at 3000 East Grand Blvd, but few that visited 2030 will forget the exclusive store-only records and the famed wall that contained signatures from just about every Detroit techno legend you could imagine. In its announcement, Submerge requested that anyone with digital images of the previous shop to get in contact, as they will endeavor to memorialize one of the most famous record stores in techno history. You can send anything you might have—stories, photos, love letters—to this address.
