  • Glasgow's Numbers party will celebrate its sixth birthday this Friday at the Sub Club. The night was originally started back in 2003 when a few smaller nights that were promoting in the city like Seismic and Marcia Blaine School For Girls decided to merge into one single party. With its members now comprising of The Village Orchestra, Stuff Records owner Richard Chater and Wireblock founders Jackmaster, Spencer and Nelson amongst others, the clubbing conglomerate started to put on an array of forward-thinking dance acts, including Autechre, Kode9, and even the debut Scottish live performance of Modeselektor. For this weekend's birthday bash, they've enlisted the talents of Berlin-based duo MMM, who are comprised of Smith'n'Hack member Erik Wiegand (AKA Errorsmith) and Fiedel, who DJs regularly at the city's Berghain venue. The wild electro-house beats of 1998's "Donna" have become quite the dance floor weapon for those in the know, and its position as a Numbers favourite means that you can be sure of some serious vibes when it comes over the Sub Club speakers this weekend. In support are two rising stars of Bristol's dubstep scene, Gemmy and Guido. As part of the "Purple Trinity" with Joker, their colourful synth melodies and G-funk inflected sounds have marked them out as ones to watch over the next couple of years, with Gemmy's album set to drop later this year on the Planet Mu label.
