  • Rvng are set to launch a new 12-inch series, which goes under the title of FRKWYS. Abbreviated in their usual style, FRKWYS is shorthand for Freakways, and according to the Rvng site, has been set up to pair "contemporary artists and their progenitors by way of remix, reinterpretation and original collaboration." Each release will explore a different style of electronic music, with the first 12-inch (which is curiously titled "Volume 2") showcasing three different remixes of New York-based industrial quartet Excepter. Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti of Chris & Cosey and Throbbing Gristle take up the A-side with their skittering raucous take on "Shots Ring," with JG Thrilwell of Foetus and Jack Dangers of Meat Beat Manifesto offering up separate reworks on the flipside. The label are warning fans that the releases in the limited edition series will be a little more expensive than their usual 12-inches due to the lavish packaging, with the tip-on style jackets all set to be wrapped in black leatherette and overlayed with "family portraits" of the artists. Petra Cortright has also shot a video for Chris & Cosey's remix effort, which can be checked out below.
