  • Ueberschall have announced the arrival of their latest sample library, Sounds of Berlin. German sample specialists Ueberschall have been plying their trade for well over twenty years now, and although the capital is the expressed theme for their latest offering, the net has been cast further afield to take in the influences of Kompakt, Boxer and Cocoon in addition to Berlin imprints Mobilee and Vakant. Overseeing the project is Ghostline Electronics boss Asem Shama and Ruede Hagelstein of The Cheapers, who between them bring a couple of decades worth of experience to the table. The library will hone in on "the Electro and Minimal Scene," with 1258 loops and samples broken down into 75 construction kits. As well as bass, synth, drum and percussion loops, users will have the option to utilize individual hits, while those preferring to stick with the loops will be able to take advantage of Ueberschall's Elastik interface, which offers time-stretching, filters per note, high quality transposition, granulation effects and volume settings per note. As is the case with most of the literature surrounding sample packs, the mention of "different subgenres of minimal sound — from 120 BPM Afterhour-House to 130 BPM Dancefloor-Techno" is a little cringeworthy, so it's certainly worth hearing things for yourself over at the Ueberschall site. Ueberschall's Sounds of Berlin is available now, priced at 99 Euros.
