  • Mika Vainio will issue a selected collection of his installation work from the past 13 years next month. The Finnish producer has made quite a name for himself in both the minimal techno and avant-garde electronica scenes, producing both solo and collaboratively under various guises as well as founding the seminal Sähkö label. Although his released work gets the lion's share of the attention, Vainio is also lauded for his sound installations, which he's been undertaking semi-regularly across Europe for most of his career. Time Examined will attempt to demonstrate both the sounds and ideas that Vainio has been exploring in this format, with eleven audio tracks appearing for the first time on CD alongside a 92-page hardback book that gives a rare insight into Vainio. Sketches, photos and text from longtime friends Daniel Klemm, Daniela Cascella and Carl Michael Von Hausswolff are used to explain each of the audio tracks, while the package also includes a re-release of Vainio and Alva Noto's Mikro Makro CD, which was originally issued in 1997. Tracklist 01. Ilmanvaihto 02. Minus 27 03. The Human Fly 04. Berns 05. Half Awake Half Asleep 06. Berlin Sound Chamber 07. 3 x Wall Clocks 08. Omerta 09. Monumentti 10. Sondear 11. 4 x Radio Raster-Noton will release Time Examined on February 8th, 2010.
