The label head will head up a gigantic tour this spring and summer throughout Europe with plenty of friends in tow.
The Montreal-bred techno DJ will be kicking things off at the end of April in Rotterdam and playing select dates throughout Europe under the banner. Expect stops in the usual haunts—London, Berlin, Madrid and Ibiza—but also in some unlikely places as well. Tiga will be bringing the sound of Turbo to Birmingham, Emmaboda (Sweden) and Liege (Belgium). While full line-ups for each date haven't been quite confirmed yet, it's easy to imagine that for a tour like this that Tiga will be bringing out the big guns like Boys Noize, Brodinski, Zombie Nation and Erol Alkan. When reached for comment in Montreal, the Turbo boss teased that it would be a "Turbo plus friends" kind of vibe, so even artists with a single remix to their name for the label seem like they might be fair game.
Also promised? A visual extravaganza. Tiga couldn't reveal the exact details, but he hinted at the man responsible for the set-up was "very well-known" and that it will all be "a bit psychedelic." The label hasn't been known to put money into doing visuals before, but as Tiga tells it, the draw of "taking the idea of cool visuals for a two-hour show and spreading it out over an eight-hour night" was too enticing for events of this magnitude.
Plans are also underway to create a website that will archive DJ sets from the nights in question, offered up mere days after the show has concluded, and Turbo also plans to release a compilation album after the entire tour is done. While only a few dates have been officially announced, be sure to check back at Tiga's DJ page for further Planet Turbo events.
