- The electronic pop artist's next album will hit stores in July.
Detroit-born artist Jimmy Edgar will release his next album, XXX, this summer on !K7.
Since he got his start in 2001, Edgar has dabbled in pop and electronic music simultaneously, releasing records on Warp and Moodgadget while remixing tracks like Will Smith's "Miami" and Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean." Edgar's own music reflects this duality, with Daft Punk-esque production backing flamboyant, funk-inspired vocals ala Prince or Jamiroquai.
XXX shows Edgar continuing on this same path. The track "Hot, Raw, Sex" lives up to its name, and although other titles like "New Touch" and "Turn You Inside Out" suggest a generally worked-up release, Edgar names "celibacy, love and loss" as the album's inspiring factors, along with "a myriad of intense relationships." XXX was recorded mostly on analog equipment at Edgar's home studio, and finished digitally. The album's first single will see release on June 21st, and will mark Edgar's debut on !K7.
