  • London nightclub T Bar has announced that it will shut its doors for good, effective immediately. Management at the venue issued this statement last night via their Facebook group: "It is with great sadness that I have to announce that T Bar is now closed. After six and a half years of incredible music, outrageously good times and spectacular memories we are calling time on the T Bar rave. Thanks to you all for your support, loyalty and for making T Bar the special place it has been for so long... Big love. The T Bar boys and girls" Since its inception in 2003, T Bar has become a favorite among London's house and techno heads thanks to its casual vibe, forward-thinking programming and, until this year, free-entry policy. It first opened at the Tea Building in Shoreditch, and frequently hosted big name DJs like Michael Mayer, Ivan Smagghe and Damian Lazarus. The venue later relocated to Houndsditch, and despite a number of successful events, struggled to achieve the lure of its old location. At the start of 2010, the club began charging a door price for Friday and Saturday nights, and music programmer Derren Smart left his position not long after, signaling unrest within the venue. The announcement of the club's closure comes during an extraordinarily turbulent time in London's club scene—matter and Plastic People are both closed temporarily, and fabric has gone into administration, though for the time being its programming remains intact.
