- A recording of the New Zealand collective's 2008 gig at The Roundhouse will hit stores this fall.
New Zealand-based outfit Fat Freddy's Drop are set to release a new live album this September on their own label, The Drop.
Self-described as a "seven-headed soul monster," Fat Freddys Drop rose to fame during the '00s thanks to their unique blend of funk, soul reggae and live techno, all delivered with a Pacific islander's sense of ease. Though their studio recordings have given them widespread fame in New Zealand and underground appeal in Europe, it's the group's fluid live performances that have kept their fans hooked over the years.
Live at the Roundhouse will be their second concert album to date, following their 2001 debut Live at the Matterhorn. The album documents the second of two Roundhouse performances by the band in 2008, and consists mostly of tunes that would appear the following year on their album Dr Boondigga and the Big BW.
