  • Montreal-based producer Deadbeat has added a Melbourne date to his upcoming Australian visit. For the last few years, Deadbeat has been one of dub techno's most recognised names. Since his production debut almost a decade ago, he has released a number of well-received singles, plus an acclaimed album Roots and Wire. As a DJ, Deadbeat's recent sets have seen him in fine form, and his March mix CD, Radio Rothko, so far stands as one of 2010's best compilations. In live mode, you can expect a similar vibe, from dancefloor-friendly 4/4 right through to experimental minimal and dub sounds. Deadbeat will be heading to Mercat X Hotel next weekend, hitting the Queen St venue for a live set on Saturday. Melbourne locals Brock Ferrar and Dave Pham will lead the support cast.
