The West German town will host the world famous event this year; Tiesto, Anthony Rother, Booka Shade and Mathew Jonson all perform.
Having moved away from its spiritual home of Berlin, Duisburg will be the latest Ruhr Area town to host the Love Parade after Essen and Dortmund felt the love in 2007 and 2008 respectively. 16 floats will participate in the event this year, while the main stage, which will be housed in front of a former goods station in an industrial sector of the town, will be backed up by a second stage for the first time in the event's history. Although there are no early indications as to how many people may descend upon Duisburg this year, consider that the previous two events pulled in anywhere between 1.2 and 1.6 million people, as many as at any time during Love Parade's peak in Berlin during the mid to late '90s.
Anthony Rother has composed the theme for the 2010 event and will play on the main, closing stage alongside further headliners Tiesto, David Guetta and Booka Shade. The event obviously calls for big sounds and big DJs so it's just well Westbam, ATB, Fedde Le Grand, Boys Noize, Mark Knight, M.A.N.D.Y., Tiefschwarz and Mathew Jonson are all due to perform. The stage runs from 5pm through until 12am, although attendees will of course be busying themselves on or around one of the 16 floats until that point as the procession begins at 2pm. Denis A, Moonbootica, Pig & Dan, Tom Novy, Alex Under and Moguai are among the acts entertaining the slow moving masses.
