- Editions Mego will release the next album by Gordon Sharp's acclaimed experimental project.
Veteran UK experimental outfit Cindytalk will release their next album on Editions Mego this month.
Founded nearly two decades ago by Scottish punk rocker Gordon Sharp, Cindytalk became one of its generation's most significant art rock groups, releasing four full-lengths and a smattering of 12-inches throughout the '80s and early '90s. Though the group never officially disbanded, it went on a long hiatus starting in 1994, when Sharp—Cindytalk's only consistent band member—became sidetracked with his electronic project, Bambule. He came back to Cindytalk in 2003, and ever since the band's sound has been different: more focused on texture, rhythm and abstract sounds.
In 2009, Editions Mego released The Crackle of My Soul, Cindytalk's first album in 15 years. Up Here in the Clouds is in many ways follow-up to that record, but according to a press release, its sound is much more ambient and electronic than its predecessors. The album is packaged in a four-panel digipack featuring artwork by David Coppenhall, a designer who's previously worked with This Heat and Brian Eno.
