  • Audio Damage's latest plug-in offering, Axon, is now available. You may be aware of Audio Damage because of the often ridiculously low prices of their plug-ins, but that's really only half the story. Software such as Discord, Automaton, Replicant and Dr. Device have offered unique, and often wacky, takes on staple effects processes; and now their Tattoo drum sequencer is joined by Axon in the instruments section of their range. Axon is the product of Audio Damage's efforts to birth a "new style of percussion sequencer/synth that wasn't linear and x0xy." What you get instead is a Neuron Sequencer, a seven-node hexagonal counter sequencer. Seven FM percussion-tuned voices are the internal sound generation sources, or you can of course drive external synths and samplers. There is also a stereo delay to play around with, while those looking to grapple with the thing via a control surface will be pleased to learn that MIDI is available for all Axon's parameters. In terms of a target music making demographic, Audio Damage are quick to point out that, "Axon is an experimental tool, and isn't for everybody." Take a look at the video below to see it in action. Axon is available now at a suggested retail price of $59.00.
