  • The year's edition of Lovevolution has been canceled due to venue complications. In a statement sent out earlier today, organizers explain how logistical problems and the tragic events at Love Parade culminated in Lovevolution's demise. The event was approved to take place at San Francisco's Civic Center, though some officials were opposed to it due to safety concerns related to overcrowding. "Then the tragedy occurred at LoveParade in Germany," reads the statement. "After that weekend, we decided it would be best to seek another location." The next choice was the parking lot of Candlestick Park, but time constraints made this impossible, and promoters felt the only option left was full cancellation. Love Week, which takes place at venues around San Francisco, will go ahead as planned. The incident wraps up a bad summer for West Coast electronic festivals: this year's Electric Daisy Carnival in LA was marred by crowd unruliness and the death of a 15 year-old-girl, arguably leading to the cancellation of HARD L.A. the following month. Despite this year's cancellation, promoters at Lovevolution say the festival will be back next year.
